Experience Matters. So Does What Someone Has Learned From It.

You aren’t choosing hypnosis in the abstract.

You’re deciding who to trust with a problem that may have already taken too much from you.

You need someone who can look beyond the label, identify what keeps the pattern active, and construct treatment around the change required to reach the freedom, control, or confidence you want.

John Wylie, CHt, is a hypnotherapist, author, and the originator and developer of the Unified Absorption Model.

For more than twenty years, he has helped people change automatic patterns that continued to control how they felt, behaved, or responded—even when they consciously knew better and genuinely wanted something different.

Your Problem Is More Than a Label

Anxiety. Nicotine. Overeating. Alcohol. Fear. Procrastination.

A label tells John where the problem appears. It doesn’t explain why it keeps returning.

Two people can struggle with what looks like the same problem while entirely different triggers, emotions, expectations, needs, and automatic responses keep it alive.

That’s why John doesn’t begin with a canned explanation or force every client through the same protocol.

He works to understand what your mind has learned, what the pattern still provides or protects against, and what a better response must do before it can reliably take over.

Because you deserve to be understood before you’re treated.

How Hypnosis Became John’s Life’s Work

John’s interest in hypnosis began with an experience he never forgot.

In his twenties, he heard someone close to him describe the profound relief she had experienced from hypnosis after years of severe cluster headaches and unsuccessful conventional treatment.

Until then, hypnosis had seemed more like entertainment than a serious instrument for change.

Her experience opened his eyes to what might be possible.

Later, while attending Idaho State University and working in sales, John used hypnosis to improve his own performance. He became a Dean’s List student and a top producer at work.

Curiosity became serious study.

In 2005, John completed his first comprehensive professional hypnosis training at a respected school in Washington. There, he discovered that helping people change through hypnotherapy wasn’t simply an interest.

It was the work he wanted to devote his life to.

Since then, John has continued training, studying, writing, teaching, and refining his skills. He has learned from recognized leaders in hypnosis, read hundreds of books, conducted trainings, taught students, and spent more than twenty years working directly with clients.

Why He Didn’t Stop at Conventional Hypnosis

Success showed John what hypnosis could accomplish.

Inconsistency showed him what the field still didn’t adequately explain.

Why could a person understand a problem completely and still repeat it?

Why could one method engage someone powerfully while another barely reached them?

Why could a session feel profound without changing the response that mattered?

Why did some changes transfer into daily life while others disappeared under familiar pressure?

The field had techniques, theories, and partial explanations. It did not have one integrated model showing how absorption gives experience the power to organize automatic response—or how treatment should use that architecture deliberately.

That pursuit led him to originate and develop the Unified Absorption Model.

UAM brings together insights from more than twenty years of clinical hypnotherapy with evidence and ideas from psychology, neuroscience, trauma, addiction, meditation, and flow.

UAM explains how attention becomes absorbed, how absorbed experience acquires enough weight to shape automatic patterns, and what allows a better response to become increasingly natural and dependable.

Its practical purpose is simple:

Better targeting. Better treatment decisions. Better, more reliable results for the client.

Not All Hypnosis Is Equal

A generic session can be calming, vivid, or emotionally powerful without changing the pattern that brought you there.

John’s experience allows him to make the decisions that matter beneath the surface:

  • What treatment should actually target
  • What keeps giving the old response its power
  • What useful job that response may still be performing
  • What needs to change first
  • How the hypnosis should be structured around you
  • Where the better response must become dependable
  • How the change should be reinforced in real life

Boise Hypnosis is where John turns UAM into a complete clinical treatment architecture.

He doesn’t merely customize wording. He identifies the pattern, determines the sequence, and constructs and audits each intervention line by line—including its entry, pacing, language, emotional movement, sensory structure, perspective, rehearsal, and reinforcement—around what must change and where the result must hold.

From Ending Suffering to Expanding Human Capability

John did not develop UAM only to make problem-focused hypnotherapy more reliable.

The same architecture that explains how an unwanted response becomes automatic also explains how to strengthen confidence, composure, identity, focus, resilience, and performance deliberately.

That gives John’s work a wider purpose: remove the pattern that is limiting a person, restore freedom, then—when the client wants more—build stronger access to what that person is capable of becoming.

Relief → Freedom → Development → Excellence

Boise Hypnosis applies that full continuum in individualized clinical and performance work.

More Than Twenty Years of Better Questions

Experience isn’t simply the number of years someone has worked.

It’s what those years have taught them to notice.

John has learned not to mistake relaxation for treatment, emotional intensity for transformation, insight for automatic change, or a dramatic session for a dependable result.

He has learned when to proceed, when to change direction, and when another form of care needs to come first.

He has also learned that a person who hasn’t changed yet isn’t necessarily resistant, unmotivated, or incapable.

When change hasn’t occurred, the problem isn’t automatically resistance or incapacity. The right pattern may not have been reached. The old response’s job may not have been replaced. The method may not have fit the person. Or the change may not have been strengthened across the situations where it needs to hold.

Those distinctions shape every treatment recommendation John makes.

Three Books. One Coherent Body of Work.

John’s work extends beyond individual hypnosis sessions.

His books develop the same central question at three different levels:

  • The Absorbed Mind presents the larger Unified Absorption Model and its account of consciousness, automatic patterns, and change.
  • How Change Actually Works gives clients a clear, practical foundation for understanding hypnosis, participation, progress, and realistic results.
  • How Nicotine Cessation Actually Works: A focused examination of nicotine’s lies—the learned beliefs, dependence loops, and relapse traps that keep the pattern alive—and what makes durable freedom possible.

Dedicated client editions of the two practical books are incorporated into treatment preparation when appropriate. Public Kindle editions are also available for readers who want the material outside treatment.

Together, the books demonstrate the depth of study, original thought, and disciplined clinical development behind the treatment John creates for each client.

The books explain the larger architecture.

Boise Hypnosis applies it to the change you want to make.

Serious About Results. Honest About Fit.

John won’t tell you that hypnosis can solve every problem, that every person needs the same treatment, or that one dramatic session guarantees lasting change.

He’ll tell you what he believes the work requires.

He’ll explain his recommendation clearly. He’ll recognize when another form of care needs to come first. And he won’t knowingly move someone into treatment when the fit, readiness, safety, or commitment isn’t there.

When John confirms that treatment is appropriate, a Personalized Treatment Plan is the normal outcome after consultation. It explains what John recommends, what the program includes, what it costs, and what the treatment is intended to accomplish.

That recommendation is based on the person, the problem, and the amount of work required for durable change.

Your problem matters too much for anything less.

The Person Behind the Work

When he isn’t seeing clients, researching, or writing, John enjoys spending time with his family, reading nonfiction, and training.

He’s also a longtime natural bodybuilder who remains seriously committed to the sport.

His understanding of hypnosis has evolved enormously since his first training. The reason he continues doing this work hasn’t changed:

He wants people who feel trapped by an automatic pattern to discover that the pattern doesn’t have to remain in control—and to receive treatment built with the seriousness their problem deserves.
